The Inter-University Centre for Research in Environmental Psychology (CIRPA), established in 2005, aims to promote and develop in Italy the field of of Environmental Psychology by consorting the leading Italian universities (University of Rome "La Sapienza", University of Cagliari, University of Padua, University of Rome "Roma Tre", University of LUMSA, University of Naples "Federico II") where the interests of psychological research in this field are most consolidated so far.
CIRPA, therefore, aims to
- Promote, coordinate and carry out studies and research in the field of Environmental Psychology (and thus on the relations between people and the physical and social or socio-physical environment)
- Promote the use, consultation and exchange of information, study materials and research results among researchers in the field, also within the framework of relations with other university Institutes or Departments, national and international, public and private research bodies
- Stimulate activities aimed at training researchers on topics and areas relevant to the Centre's activities
- Encourage the development of collaborations between scholars from different disciplinary fields;
- Organise study meetings, seminars and conferences at national and international level;
- Carry out scientific support, research, training and evaluation activities for State Administrations, as well as for public, private and moral bodies, in various capacities interested in the problems of interactions and transactions between people and socio-physical environments of multiple types, including natural environments, those built by man, virtual environments and those linked to new technologies
- Promote and implement training and refresher courses for operators carrying out their activities in the service of organisations and institutions operating in the abovementioned fields
